AMHERST, N.S. – With a little more than two weeks to go, the United Way of Cumberland County is encouraging everybody to get their donations in.
The campaign ends Dec. 31, and the goal is to raise $130,000,” said Cathy Skinner, executive director of the United Way of Cumberland County.
They are currently at 52 per cent of reaching their goal.
“There’s still kits to come in, but we encourage everybody to do payroll and get their donations in,” added Skinner.
Eight local organizations count on support from the United Way of Cumberland County.
“If it wasn’t important, we wouldn’t ask,” said Dave March, president of the United Way of Cumberland County. “So, if you have an intention to give to the United Way it’s time to follow through because time is running out.”
They are also selling Get Away tickets which entitle the winner to a $4,000 travel voucher from Maritime Travel.
“There are 1,500 tickets being sold at $10 each,” said March.
Tickets can be purchased by calling 902-667-2203, or at their office at 16 Church Street, Unit 206.
“We hope to set up different locations to purchase them come the New Year,” said Skinner.
