Surrette empowering Springhill for 60 years

Receives lifetime achievement award

SPRINGHILL, N.S. – Surrette Battery Company Ltd. has been a mainstay of Springhill since 1959.

The business was recognized for its 60 years of service to the community with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the Springhill and Area Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting April 24 at the Dr. Carson & Marion Murray Community Centre in Springhill.

“Their dedicated staff, their attention to quality, and their ability to adapt to the needs of their customers has assured their survival in such a competitive industry,” said county councillor Maryanne Jackson before presenting the award to James Surrette, CEO of Surrette Battery Company Limited.

Surrette Battery is a leading North American manufacturer Rolls-brand premium deep cycle lead acid batteries for a variety of applications in the marine, railroad, renewable energy and motive power industries.

They employ close to 90 people at their factory in Springhill, and their distribution network includes stocking warehouses in more than 20 countries and direct shipments to more than 35 countries from the port of Halifax.

“They enjoy satisfying the requirements of such companies as Home Energy Solutions, Canadian National Rail, Canadian Pacific Rail, Progress Rail, and General Electric,” said Jackson.
