Springhill scouts hit top awards trifecta

SPRINGHILL, N.S. – Members of the 2nd Springhill Scouts have become beacons in the Scouts Canada program.

Three members of the 2nd Springhill Scouts have received the top award in Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts.

The latest local scout to receive accolades from Scouts Canada is Camden Rector.

Rector recently received the Seeonee Award, which is the highest honour which can be bestowed upon a Cub Pack scout.

This award comes on the heels of Breanna Bradley receiving the Chiefs Scout’s Award, the highest award which can be achieved at the scout level in Scouts Canada.

And not long before she received her award, Brookelynn Porter-Welton received the North Star Award, which is the highest personal achievement for a Beaver Scout in the Scouts Canada program.

Daren Bradley, co-ordinator for the 2nd Springhill Scouts, is proud of their accomplishments.

“We have a very successful program. To have three high section awards in one year is amazing,” Bradley said.

He also said they are always looking for more scouts to join their group.

“We have a large group now but we’re always looking for more kids to join all the sections,” said Bradley.

The troop is made up of Beavers, ages 5 to 7; Cubs, ages 8 to 10; and Scouts, ages 11 to 14.
