Springhill RCMP investigating armed robbery

SPRINGHILL, N.S. - RCMP in Springhill are investigating an armed robbery at a service station on Highway 2 in Springhill on Saturday afternoon.

Police say a man entered the service station, approached the clerk and demanded she open the till. 

After the clerk refused, the man attempted to open the till himself; he was holding a knife with an approximately six-inch serrated blade. 

There was a brief altercation between the man and the clerk. 

The man fled the service station with an unknown amount of cash, and left the scene in the passenger seat of a newer model black Toyota Corolla, which had been waiting nearby.

The suspect is described as white, approximately 5'6" tall, and 18 - 20 years old. 

He was wearing a blue hooded windbreaker, dark camouflage jogging pants, tight at the ankles, and a black face mask. 

The suspect may have an injury to his head or face resulting from the altercation with the clerk. 

No one else was injured during the incident.

The robbery is still under investigation.
