RCMP in Cumberland County are investigating a series of break-ins at four rural businesses.

The latest break-in occurred overnight Monday with thieves attempting to gain entry to the Co-op store in Pugwash that shares a building with the NSLC liquor store.

An attempt was also made to break into the Wentworth Market while overnight Friday thieves broke into the Co-op in River Hebert and stole a quantity of cigarettes and cash.

Thieves also recently broke into Craig’s Grocery in Amherst Shore taking cigarettes, liquor and cash.

Sgt. Alan Carroll of the Cumberland RCMP would not say if the incidents are connected, other than saying they are under investigation. He said sometimes thieves will strike locations around the province.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local RCMP detachment or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
