PUGWASH, N.S. – Climate change will be atop the agenda when youth from throughout Nova Scotia gather at the Thinkers Lodge in Pugwash from July 25 to 28.
The retreat, entitled Youth Leaders Working in Climate Change, is co-hosted by the Thinkers Lodge and the Centre for Local Prosperity.
“Twenty youth Thinkers from across Atlantic Canada will be gathering for intense and brave discussions about the intersectionality of climate change with social and economic justice, the roots of climate change in systemic oppression of marginalized communities, incorporating art into the climate justice movement, approaching climate justice through a lens of decolonization, and learning from each other to build relationships and a stronger climate justice movement,” the CFLP website says.
The three-day event will wrap up with the planting of a red oak tree at the Thinkers Lodge which is a symbol of their ‘commitment to fighting climate change and protecting the planet for the next seven generations.’
The tree will be planted at noon on July 28. The public is welcome to the planting of the red oak tree.
