AMHERST – A 47-year-old Amherst area man has been charged with drugs and weapons charges following a search of a residence on April 13 by the Cumberland Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit.
Steven Jason Mackay is charged with two counts of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana, production of marijuana, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, unsafe storage of a firearm and failing to comply with an undertaking.
The street crime unit conducted two searches with the assistance of the Amherst Police seizing methamphetamine, marihuana, cash, firearms and other weapons including prohibited knives and bear spray, from one of the residences.
Mackay was held in custody and appeared in provincial court in Amherst on Monday.
On April 11, the street crime unit, with help from the Amherst Police and Cumberland RCMP, searched a Kent Drive home and charged a 33-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman with several charges.
Justin John Arseneau and Norissa Epton are charged with possession of methamphetamine, hydromorphne, methadone, marijuana, cannabis resin and clonazepam for the purpose of trafficking as well as possession of dextroamphetamine, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public.
Both will return to court on May 2.
