Oxford to celebrate Oxford Frozen Foods' 50th on Saturday

OXFORD – Oxford Frozen Foods will celebrate its 50th birthday with a number of events, including a concert Saturday night at the Dr. Carson and Marion Murray Community Centre in Springhill featuring Natalie MacMaster.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and tickets are $20 with proceeds going to charity.

Earlier in the day, Alain Bosse, the Kilted Chef will prepare blueberry dishes at Heritage Square between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. with several special guests including Caitlyn from the wild blueberries TV campaign, Cumberland-Colchester MP Bill Casey, Cumberland South MLA and Oxford Mayor Trish Stewart.

There will also be live entertainment at the Cumberland County Exhibition Grounds, featuring Atlantic Cirque, Deedra Greene, Drew Moore, Old Man Luedecke, My Favorite Headache, Ray’s Reptiles and Allison Mitton’s dancing dogs.

Events also include a dunk tank and information booth displays from other Bragg companies, including Eastlink and Bragg Lumber, as well as the Wild Blueberry Producers of Nova Scotia.

There will be fun games, pony rides, face painting, a petting farm, a rock wall and bungee jump, bouncy houses, 50th anniversary memorabilia for sale, food and fireworks at 10:15 p.m. from the ballfield on Water Street.

Water Street from Waverly to Pleasant will be blocked to traffic from 9:45 to 10:30 p.m. to allow people to get to the fireworks safely.
