AMHERST – Water to homes on Willow Street will be turned off overnight Thursday, Nov. 9, in order to install a number of water valves on the street.

Part of the Amherst reservoir replacement project, the water shutdown will begin at 10 p.m. Thursday and is expected to be completed by 5 a.m. Friday.

Once the service is restored, residents should run the cold water in their bathtub for about 15 minutes in order to eliminate impurities.

The work, being carried out by CBCL Ltd., is necessary to improve municipal services and facilities in the area. Every effort will be taken to complete the work as quickly as possible.

If further information is required, it can be obtained from Rebelle Zibara, CBCL’s inspector, who can be reached at 902-817-0295.

The water interruption isn’t the only disruption that will happen on Willow Street because of the construction. Next week, the contractor will be installing a PRV chamber, which will result in the street being closed for the three days it will take to install the chamber. More details will be provided closer to when the chamber is installed.
