Male arrested for multiple thefts from vehicles in Amherst

AMHERST, N.S. – A 19 year old male is facing multiple charges after he was arrested on February 25 for breaking into vehicles.

At approximately 11:53 p.m., residents on Croft Street heard noises near their property and went out to investigate.

The property owners discovered an unknown male inside one of their vehicles.

The male fled the area and the property owner attempted to chase the male but was unsuccessful in apprehending him.

The Amherst Police Department were called and a responding unit spotted the male on Church Street.

The male was arrested after a short foot chase.

Subsequent investigation into the matter resulted in officers charging the male with numerous charges of theft from motor vehicles, and possession of stolen property.

Multiple thefts from vehicles on Feb. 15 to 17 and Feb. 25 have been linked to the male.

The male was held in custody and appeared at Amherst Provincial Court on February 26.

He was later released from custody and will appear in Court on March 11 for a plea.
