LORNEVILLE, N.S. — The Lorneville United Church will once again be holding a Christmas House Tour on Dec. 15. The hours for the Tour will be 4:30 - 8:30 p.m.
During the Tour the Lorneville Church will be open for refreshments.
The organizing committee is pleased to have four families volunteer to take part in the tour this year.
Winegarden Estate Winery and Distillery is a family run business that was founded in 1991 by Werner and Roswitha Rosswog and now managed by their daughter, Elke and son, Steffen. This award winning business has been extended over the years to include a music/reception room, where music events, licensed patio, wedding receptions and private parties can be held, as well as their retail store, all decorated in the traditional German way.
At 44 Davidson Loop, also on the Baie Verte Road, situated on the Tidnish River, is the Smith-MacLeod home. This home is built on land acquired by Karen and Arthur’s great-grandfather, Capt. Hugh Davidson in the 1850s. This home was completed in 2016 by EnerGeen Co-Operative under the supervision of Blaine and Heather Smith. This 2-storey home has many unique features and will be a pleasure to Tour.
The next home is located at 5430 Hwy 366 in Lorneville. The owners, Kim Tanner and Alysha Manderson had this very unique home built on land owned by Kim’s great-great grandparents, Jim and Clara Stuart and passed down through five generations. This home was designed by Kim and Alysha and their dream home made a reality by their contractors, Eric and Jeanne MacGlashen. This new home was built on an angle to engulf every aspect of the natural beauty of the coastline and wonderful sunrises. Kim and Alysha look forward to welcoming everyone into their beautiful new home.
At 5736 Highway 366 in Lorneville, you will find the home of Polly and Francis Verstraten. This family farm has been in operation for many generations. This year, they have agreed to allow Santa to use their “Party Barn” for his workshop! We hear he will also be using the cabin next to the workshop to stay in, while working in this area. Polly, Francis and Doreen will welcome you and show you around. If Santa and Mrs. Claus are working in the Lorneville area on the 15th, they may be there also.
Tickets are $10 and are available by calling Carole at 902-661-4160, Linda at 902-661-4201 or Randi at 902-667-9250. Tickets can also be purchased at the Artisan Gallery at the Amherst Centre Mall.
Proceeds are for the Lorneville Church.
