AMHERST, N.S. – Childhood Christmas memories are distant for some, and not so distant for others.

Whether near or far, those memories, along with Christmas cheer, will be evoked when the Church Choir of Trinity-St. Stephen’s United Church presents ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’ on Dec. 16.

The Dylan Thomas poem tells the story of a Christmas past from the viewpoint of the author as a young boy in Wales.

The story will be narrated John Hancock.

Based out of Halifax, Hancock is the CBC Radio’s national sports host for the Maritime provinces, along with Ottawa, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary.

Hancock’s reading will be enriched with Christmas carols sung by the Church Choir of Trinity-St. Stephen’s United Church.

There is no admission, but a freewill offering will be taken in support of the Amherst Food Bank and the Trinity-St. Stephen’s United Church emergency community financial assistance fund, which helps those in need.

A Child’s Christmas in Wales begins Dec. 16, at 4 p.m. at the Trinity-St. Stephen’s United Church, located at 1 Ratchford Street.

For more information, contact the Church Office at 902-667-8483.
