UPPER NAPPAN, N.S. – The public can now access the internet for free at the Cumberland Health Care Centre.
“This is something we’ve been looking at for some time now,” said Gwen Kerr, managing director of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation.
A secure internal network was opened for staff access on November 21st and the public network opened for all users February 13th.
“We knew that it would be such a benefit for our patients and visitors to be able to keep in contact with family and have access to information and entertainment while they are here,” said Kerr. “We were delighted to be able to partner with Nova Scotia Health Authority to make it happen.”
Installation and testing of the wireless system took many months.
“The Foundation contributed just under $26,000 for the installation and it’s money well spent,” said Kerr.
