AMHERST, N.S. – A Springhill man has made a brief court appearance on charges related to the destruction in August of the Lamp Cabin Dining Room and Lounge.
Donald Raymond Forbes, 26, of King Street, Springhill will return for election and plea on Oct. 29 at 9:30 a.m. after a short appearance on Oct. 1 at which time he told the court he’s applying to Nova Scotia Legal Aid for counsel.
Forbes is charged with intentionally damaging by fire the Lamp Cabin, breaking and entering into the Lamp Cabin and committing theft, possession of stolen property a sound board valued at less than $5,000 and two fluorescent lights, careless storage of ammunition.
Two youths were also charged in connection with the Aug. 3 fire, but can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. They are slated to return on Dec. 5.
