SPRINGILL - Cumberland South Liberal Candidate Scott Lockhart celebrated the official opening of his campaign office Friday surrounded by Liberals, family and friends.
“I’m truly humbled by the support everyone has shown me over these last few months,” said Lockhart. “It means the world to me to be doing this with Roxanne, my partner for 35 years, in the place that we’ve always called home, Cumberland South.”
Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister Lloyd Hines was the guest speaker for the event, and re-confirmed to a cheering crowd that the Rainbow Bridge will be replaced this construction season.
“As I’ve said publicly before, we will start work this construction season on a replacement for the Rainbow Bridge. This is high priority for the residents of this area – you have made your voices known and we have heard you.”
Lockhart has been involved in politics for as long as he can remember and has a close relationship with Bill Casey, MP for Cumberland-Colchester.
Scott’s priorities reflect what he’s hearing at the doors and his focus will be on bringing Cumberland South’s voice back to the table, just like he did and will continue to do with the recently announced Springhill school.
“A new elementary school in Springhill is welcome news for our community,” said Lockhart. “Site selection is scheduled to begin this year, and there is no doubt about the fact this new school will be built.”
Lockhart says the addition of a new family practice nurse in Springhill will also help people access primary care, along with the active doctor recruitment campaign that’s currently underway.
“We all know there are challenges and more work to do, but by combining our strengths and working together I’m confident we can see real, positive change,” said Lockhart. “That’s why my promise is to get things done for Cumberland South.”
