A Sackville, Nova Scotia man has two years to pay more than half-a-million dollars in fines after appearing in Amherst Provincial Court.

Stephen Gary Richards, 47, appeared in court Jan. 15, pleading guilty to a charge of possessing untaxed tobacco ad a charge of possessing unstamped tobacco. In total, Richards was handed $647,110.52 in fines.

The incidents occurred Sept. 14, 2017, in Amherst.

 

Hollis pleads guilty

David Christopher Hollis, 34, Amherst, was handed a conditional sentence and 24-months probation after pleading guilty to a count of assault.
The incident occurred between Dec. 1, 2016, and Oct. 4, 2017, in Tidnish.

 

Mahoney jailed for drinking and driving

Kevin Mahoney, 45, of Croft Street, Amherst, was sentenced to 30 days custody and prohibited from driving for two years after pleading guilty to operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration in excess of .08 per cent and operating a motor vehicle while disqualified.

The incidents occurred May 2, 2017, in Amherst.

 

Fisher sentencing in February

Izea Eden Fisher, 18, of Amherst, will return to court Feb. 26, for sentencing, after pleading guilty to unsafe storage of a firearm, possessing a firearm without a valid license and possessing a firearm with the serial number removed.
The incidents occurred Aug. 18, 2017, in Amherst.

Fisher also plead guilty and will be sentenced Feb. 26 to a count of mischief by causing property damage Sept. 15, 2017, in Amherst.

 

Frenette handed suspended sentence

Steven Paul Frenette, 37, of Salem, was handed a suspended sentence, six months probation and a 10-year firearm ban after pleading guilty to unlawfully producing marijuana and unlawfully possessing marijuana.

The incidents occurred Aug. 15, 2017, in Salem.

 

Hicks fined for possessing meth

Aaron Wayne Hicks, 43, of Amherst, was fined $1,300 after pleading guilty to possessing methamphetamine.
The incident occurred Oct. 27, 2017, in Amherst.

Lambert plead guilty to defrauding Community Services

Mildred Lee Frene Lambert, 47, of Westchester, will return to court March 5, for sentencing after pleading guilty to defrauding the Nova Scotia Dept. of Community Services of a sum of money exceeding $5,000.

The incident occurred between Sept. 11, 2013, and Sept. 14, 2015, in Amherst.

 

Robinson returns to court next month

Daren Alexander Robinson, 33, of Conns Mills, will return to court Feb. 26, after pleading guilty to unlawfully producing marijuana and unlawfully possessing marijuana.

The incidents occurred Sept. 6, 2017, in Conns Mills.
