Hicks gets 30 days in jail

Paul Dean Hicks, 46, of Clifford Street, Amherst, was sentenced to 30 days (time served by remand) after pleading guilty to failing to comply with a recognizance order to avoid direct communication with Amherst Police, RCMP Amherst, Cumberland Regional Health Authority or mental health.

The incidents occurred between Aug. 29 and Oct. 11, 2018 in Amherst.

Fraser gets probation

Alex Daniel Fraser, 23, of Queen Street, Springhill, was sentenced to a year of probation with reporting and conditions after pleading guilty to attempting to steal copper piping of a value not exceeding $500 and failing to comply with an undertaking by using or possessing alcohol or drugs.

He was also ordered to pay a $200 victim surcharge.

The incidents occurred Dec. 5, 2017 in Springhill.

Goodwin fined for failing the breathalyzer

Travis Ryan Goodwin, 35, of Baie Verte, N.B. was fined $1,000 or 14 days in jail and a $300 victim surcharge after pleading guilty to failing the breathalyzer.

He is prohibited from driving for one year.

The incident occurred Sept. 30, 2018 in Amherst.

Miller fined for failing the breathalyzer

Michael James Miller, 48, of Bowmanville, Ont. was fined $1,500 or 22 days in jail after pleading guilty to failing the breathalyzer.

He was also issued a $450 victim surcharge and is prohibited from driving for one year.

The incident occurred July 13, 2018 in Amherst.

Sellers sentenced to probation

Angel Barbara Marie Sellers, 33, of Costin Drive, Amherst, was sentenced to a conditional discharge following a year of probation with reporting and conditions after pleading guilty to assault.

The incident occurred May 26, 2017 in Amherst.
