AMHERST, N.S. – On June 24, two people were convicted of various crimes in Amherst provincial court.

Galpin sentenced for impaired driving

Thomas William Galpin, 33, of Poplar Street, Amherst, was sentenced in court on June 24 to a $1,500 fine and a one-year driving prohibition after pleading guilty to operating a conveyance while the concentration of alcohol in his blood exceeded .08 per cent.

The incident occurred May 27, 2019, in Amherst.

Short sentenced for stealing truck, money, credit card

Charissa Short, 34, of West Victoria Street, Amherst, was sentenced in court on June 24 to 12-months probation, concurrent to each other, after pleading guilty to four charges.

Short pleaded guilty to stealing a motor vehicle, a 1994 truck, stealing $140 from the person who owns the truck, and for stealing a credit card from the person who owns the truck.

The incidents occurred April 13, 2018, in the county of Westmorland, N.B.

She also pleaded guilty to failing to attend court.

The incident occurred Aug. 17, 2018.
