AMHERST N.S. – Five people were sentenced in provincial court on Nov. 25 after pleading guilty to various crimes.

Bowen sentenced twice for impaired driving

Victoria Lynn Bowen, 31, of 18 Pender Street, Amherst, was sentenced in court on Nov. 25 to a fine of $1,300 and a one year driving prohibition after pleading guilty to, within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance, having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded .08 per cent.

The incident occurred April 7, 2019, in Fort Lawrence.

Bowen was sentenced in court on Nov. 25 to a second fine of $1,300, a one-year driving prohibition, plus six-months probation after pleading guilty to, within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance, having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded .08 per cent.

The second incident happened May 12, 2019, in Truro.

Landry sentenced for impaired driving

Emma Helene Landry, 40, of Lorne Street Amherst, was sentenced in court Nov. 25 to 24 months-probation after pleading guilty to operating a motor vehicle while her ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by a drug.

The incident occurred June 28, 2018, in Amherst.

Matheson sentenced for impaired driving

Steven Elmer Matheson, 29, of Tatamagouche, was sentenced in court Nov. 25 to a fine of $1,950 and a one-year driving prohibition after pleading guilty to, within two hours after ceasing to operate a conveyance, having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded .08 per cent.

The incident occurred Sept. 1, 2019, in Malagash.

Melanson sentenced for assault

Tanya Melanson, 40, of Fenwick, was sentenced in court Nov. 25 to six-months probation followed by a conditional discharge after pleading guilty to assaulting another person.

The incident occurred Dec. 10, 2018, in Fenwick.

O’Blenis sentenced for possession of methamphetamine

Justin Lee O’Blenis, 43, of Smith Street Amherst, was sentenced in court Nov. 25 to a $1,000 fine after pleading guilty to the unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

The incident occurred Feb. 19, 2019, in Amherst.
