AMHERST, N.S. – Five people were recently convicted of various crimes at Amherst provincial court.

Jolly sentenced to one day custody for ignoring curfew

Dylan Joshua Jolly, 18, of Amherst Point, was sentenced in court on April 23, to one day custody, deemed served, after pleading guilty to failing to comply with a condition to abide by a daily curfew to be in his residence daily from 6 p.m. to 6 p.m., except when at regularly scheduled employment and travelling to and from that employment by the most direct route.

The incident occurred April 13, 2019, in Amherst.

Keiver sentenced to probation for fraud

Alisha Lynn Keiver, 41, of Melrose Street, Amherst, was sentenced in court on April 24, to 12-months probation, with conditions, and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $3,500 after pleading to six counts of fraud and one count of uttering forged documents.

The six counts of fraud were against five separate individuals and one business, whereby she used deceit, falsehood or other fraudulent manes to defraud them of money of a value not exceeding $5,000.

The defrauding occurred Dec. 22, 2016, and throughout 2017, on March 22, 24, and 30, 2017, and on Jan. 10 and 21, 2017.

The uttering forged documents occurred April 27, 2018, when she used a forged cheque with altered branch and transit numbers as if they were genuine.

Hollis sentenced for break and enter, possessing stolen property

Adam Christopher Hollis, 39, of no fixed address, was recently sentenced in court to two years custody after pleading guilty to five counts of break and enter and one count of possessing stolen property.

Was sentenced to two years custody after pleading guilty to break and entering three cabins, one seasonal cottage, and one outbuilding.

The incidents occurred between Feb. 2 and Feb. 23, 2019 in Poison Lake.

He was also sentenced to 30 days custody, concurrent with the two years custody, after pleading guilty to having in his possession a 2018 pick-up truck, the value of which exceeded $5,000, knowing the truck was stolen.

The incident occurred Feb. 19, 2019, in Poison Lake.

Morrissey sentenced on seven separate charges

Jessie Benjamin Morrissey, 24, of Liberty Lane, Amherst, was sentenced in court to 83 days custody after pleading guilty to seven separate charges.

He pleaded guilty to three charges of failing without lawful excuse to comply with house arrest.

The incidents occurred March 31, and March 13, 2019, in Oxford, and on Jan. 24, 2019, in Amherst.

Morrissey also pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to attend court.

The incidents occurred Jan 28, 2019, and Aug. 13, 2018, in Amherst.

He was also sentenced for failing without lawful excuse to abide by a curfew whereby he was to remain at his residence at all times.

The incident occurred between July 8 and July 25, 2018, in Amherst.

He was also sentenced for failing to pay restitution to another person in the amount of $500 at a rate of $27.70 per month, with a final payment of $29.10.

The incident occurred between April 7, 2016, and Jan. 22, 2018, in Cumberland County.

Burke sentenced for uttering a threat of Facebook

Neil James Burke, 41, of Cedar Drive, Amherst, was sentenced in court to a suspended sentence following 18 months probation, after pleading guilty to uttering a threat to another person on Facebook Messenger.

The incident occurred Aug. 30, 2018, in Amherst.
