Howard fined for lobster offence

Jeremy Howard, 42, of Gillespie Avenue, Summerside, P.E.I. was fined $2,000 or 22 days in jail after pleading guilty to fishing lobster during a closed period.

His licence is also suspended for the first three days of the 2019 lobster season.

The incident occurred July 1, 2018 in Cape Clif.

Nicholas fined for not reporting lost fishing gear

Zack Nicholas, 33, of Trenton, N.S. was fined $750 or eight days in jail after pleading guilty to not reporting lost fishing gear under the Fisheries Act.

The incident occurred July 2, 2018 in Wallace.

Baker sentenced to probation

John Vincent Peter Baker, 39, of Woodlawn Drive, Amherst, was sentenced to one year of probation with reporting and conditions after pleading guilty to failing to comply with a probation order to attend or participate in an assessement, treatment and counselling as directed.

The incident occurred between Sept. 3, 2016 and Aug. 10, 2017 in Amherst.

Burbine gets probation for mischief

Brandon Colby Burbine, 30, of Spring Street, Amherst, was placed on probation for six months with reporting and conditions after pleading guilty to committing mischief by damaging a taxi window of a value not exceeding $5,000.

He was also ordered to pay $291.67 in restitution.

The incident occurred April 9, 2017 in Amherst.

Hicks gets jail time for mischief

Paul Dean Hicks, 46, of Clifford Street, Amherst, was given 60 days in jail, less remand time, after pleading guilty to committing mischief with intent to mislead Const. Mike Black to enter into an investigation by reporting a home invasion and homicide with intent to cause unknown parties to be suspected of committing an offence.

The incident occurred June 23, 2018 in Amherst.

Hicks was also sentenced to 2 days in jail, less remind time, after pleading guilty to causing a disturbance in a public place, the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, by shouting and swearing with insulting language toward doctors and nurses.

The incident occurred Aug. 25, 2018 in Amherst.

He received a 10-day sentence after pleading guilty to failing to comply with a recognizance order by keeping the peace and being of good behaviour.

The incident occurred Nov. 3, 2018 in Amherst.

He also received a 10-day sentence after pleading guilty to failing to comply with a recognizance order by calling the Amherst Police Department without lawful excuse.

O’Brien gets four months for mischief, assault, threats

Christian Benson O’Brien, 22, of Dorchester, N.B. was sentenced to four months in custody, to be served concurrently to present sentences, for committing mischief by breaking a window at the Springhill Institution, assaulting a Correctional Services of Canada employee and uttering threats to cause bodily harm.

The incidents occurred Nov. 11, 2017 in Springhill.

Cotton sentenced to one year of probation

Matthew Henry M. Cotton, 32, of Wentworth-Collingwood Road, Westchester, was placed on probation for one year for single counts of assault and committing mischief by damaging a cellphone of a value not exceeding $5,000 and two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm.

The incidents occurred Feb. 3, 2018 in Westchester, Dec. 25, 2017 and between Dec. 1 and 15, 2017 in Westchester.

Haley gets fine for failing breathalyser

John Cyril Haley, 68, of Highway 366, Amherst, was fined $1,500 or 17 days in jail after pleading guilty to failing the breathalyser.

He is also prohibited from driving for one year.

Moffatt sentenced to two years federal custody

Matthew Reginald Moffatt, 42, of Highway 366, Amherst, was sentenced to two years federal custody for unlawful possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

He is also prohibited from owning or possessing firearms, ammunition or explosive substances for 10 years and must provide a DNA sample.

The incident occurred Oct. 7, 2016 in Amherst.

Stevens gets probation for theft charge

Ashley Shane Stevens, 26, of LaPlanche Street, Amherst, was placed on probation for six months with reporting and conditions after pleading guilty to stealing items from Walmart of a value not exceeding $5,000.

Stevens was also ordered to pay $118.33 in restitution.

The incident occurred Feb. 9, 2018 in Amherst.

Stevens also received six months probation after pleading guilty to stealing meat from Sobeys and the Atlantic Superstore of a value not exceeding $5,000.

Stevens was also ordered to pay $133.04 restitution to the Superstore and $53.34 to Sobeys.

The incident occurred Feb. 14, 2018 in Amherst.

Pittman gets one day for possession of methamphetamine

Patrick Brandon Reginald Pittman, 28, of Thomson Road, Oxford, was sentenced to one day in jail, time served by his appearance in court, after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

The incident occurred Nov. 25, 2018 in Amherst.

Jamieson sentenced for assault

Danielle Jamieson, 24, of Miller Road, Pugwash, was granted a conditional discharge following one year of probation with reporting and conditions for one count of assault and another count of committing mischief by damaging a door of a value not exceeding $5,000.

The incidents occurred Aug. 23, 2017 in Amherst.

Lake sentenced to probation

Jody Matthew Lake, 44, of Old Halifax Road, Salt Springs, was placed on probation for six months with reporting and conditions after pleading guilty to disobeying a court order under the Domestic Violence Intervention At.

The incident occurred Nov. 29, 2018 in Springhill.

Ryan fined for failing probation

Kenneth Ryan, 20, of Spring Street, Amherst, was fined $250 for failing to comply with a probation order by completing 30 hours of community service work within nine months of the order.

The incident occurred between June 12, 2018 and Sept. 20, 2018 in Amherst.

Cail sentenced for committing assault

Meghan Elizabeth Cail, 28, of Lethbridge, AB, was sentenced in court on Wednesday to a conditional discharge following nine months probation after pleading guilty to committing assault.

The incident occurred June 18, 2017, in Amherst.
