Joggins pair facing drug, tobacco, weapons charges

JOGGINS, N.S. - A 58-year-old man and 53-year-old woman are facing several charges following a search of a hoe on the Pit Road in Joggins on Oct. 10.

The search was conducted by the Cumberland Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit and the Cumberland RCMP.

Found were unstamped tobacco, a small quantity of marijuana and unsafely stored firearms along with 50,000 contraband cigarettes. A small illegal marijuana grow was also located and dismantled.

The two are charged under the Excise Act, Revenue Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code.

They were released from custody and are scheduled to return to court on Dec. 3 at 9:30 a.m.
