AMHERST, N.S. – Three people, Mark Briggs, Christopher Burke, and Brendan MacCallum pleaded guilty to charges in Amherst Provincial Court.
Briggs fined for not complying with lobster trap license condition
Mark Briggs, 36, of Wallace, was sentenced in court to a fine of $750 after pleading guilty failing to comply with conditions of a license, to wit, fishing lobster traps without a valid tag attached.
The incident occurred July 2, 2018, near Wallace.
Burke sentenced for not complying with lobster trap license conditions
Christopher W.R. Burke, 43, of Pictou, was sentenced in court to a total fine of $2,250 after pleading guilty to two counts of failing to comply with a condition of a license.
Burke was sentenced to a $1,500 fine after pleading guilty to failing to comply with a condition of a license by not reporting lost fishing gear as per instructions contained within the said conditions of the license.
Burke was also sentenced to a fine of $750 after pleading guilty to comply with a condition of a license by failing to submit a lobster logbook within seven calendar days following the closure of the lobster season.
The incidents occurred between April 30, 2018, and Oct. 16, 2018 near Wallace.
MacCallum sentenced for several marijuana-related convictions
Brendan Donald MacCallum, 19, of Kent Drive, Amherst, was sentenced in to a $700 fine, 24-months probation, a six-month conditional discharge, and a 10-year firearms prohibition after pleading guilty to five marijuana-related charges.
MacCallum pleaded guilty to the possession of marijuana, in an amount not exceeding three kilograms, for the purpose of trafficking and the possession of cannabis resin, in an amount not exceeding three kilograms, for the purpose of trafficking.
The incidents occurred Dec. 15, 2017, in Amherst.
He also pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana.
The incident occurred April 1, 2018, in Amherst.
MacCallum also pleaded guilty to a second count to possession of Marijuana, less than three kilograms, and to failing without lawful excuse to comply with a condition to abstain from the possession or consumption of drugs, except with a medical prescription.
The incidents occurred July 6, 2018, in Amherst.
