AMHERST, N.S. - Sheila Christie has been re-elected Amherst deputy mayor.

Each year, Amherst selects a deputy mayor from among council and for the third consecutive year Christie has been elected over Coun. Terry Rhindress, who has served as deputy mayor in the past.

The deputy mayor, who represents the mayor when he’s not available, receives $24,375 annually, including $16,250 plus $8,125 in expenses. A councilor receives $21,542, including $14,361 and $7,181 in expenses.

The mayor receives $36,447, including a stipend of $24,298 plus $12,150 in expenses.
