AMHERST – The Royal Canadian Sea Cadets are celebrating 100 years in 2018, and on Friday the 258 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Amherst held their 41st annual ceremonial review.

The award recipients are as follows:

Jordan Jones – The Lord Strathcona Award

The Lord Strathcona Award is the highest award that is bestowed on a cadet in recognition of exemplary performance in community involvement, physical training, having achieved at least the rank of Petty Officer Second Class, attended a six-week summer training course and completed mandatory corps training.

Tyler Rowe – Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence

The Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence is awarded in recognition for individual endeavors that meet or enhance the aims of the cadet movement. This includes completing mandatory training, participating in community service events, and promoting co-operation and goodwill within the corps.

Sebastian Dimichele – The Navy League Centennial Coin and Certificate. It is a one-of-a-kind award to celebrate the Sea Cadet Centennial. Only one is given to each cadet corps in Canada.

Brayden Morris – Navy League Cadet Award of Excellence

Brayden Morris – Cadet of the Year, is presented to a cadet who has consistently demonstrated the highest standard of drill, dress, deportment and attendance.

Karsen Black – Most Promising First Year Cadet

Dylan Bain – Top Second Year Cadet

Adam Cameron – Most Improved Cadet

Isaiah Jones and Sebastian Dimichelle ­– The Endeavour Award for Junior Leadership

Samantha Dimichele – Michael Walsh, Outstanding Award for Dedication and Contribution to the Band.

Shannon O’Brien – The George Evans Award, which is awarded for perseverance, dignity and enthusiasm

Jordan Jones and Logan Remington – The Senior Cadet Proficiency Award

Logan Remington – Special commendation for his dedication. Remington has been with the corps for a little over four years and, in that time, has displayed remarkable leadership, initiative and dedication to the corps.

Commanding Officer Helen Triff – The Navy League Distinguished Service Award. She was one of two recipients in Nova Scotia to receive the award.

All Cadets – Members of the 258 RCSCC received a Sea Cadets of Canada Centennial t-shirt and key chain. All cadets had already received the Navy League Centennial Pin, which they will wear on their uniform for the entire centennial year.
