AMHERST, N.S. – It was 100 years ago that the guns of the First World War fell silent.
Hundreds of people gathered at the cenotaph in Victoria Square in Amherst on Nov. 11 to pay tribute to the millions who died in that war, including more than 60,000 Canadians, and the millions more who died in the Second World War, and the wars that followed.
Following the ceremony at the cenotaph, people then gathered at Trinity-St. Stephen United Church for the laying of the wreaths.
