AMHERST, N.S. – Five people were sentenced in court on June 10 after pleading guilty to various crimes
Alderson sentenced for stealing from Walmart
Joseph Keith Alderson, 33, of Prince Arthur Street, Amherst, was sentenced in court on June 10 to a suspended sentence following six-months probation after pleading guilty to stealing electronic devices from Walmart, the value of which did not exceed $5,000.
The incident occurred Nov. 13, 2018, in Amherst.
Burden sentenced for failing to attend court
Marilyn Jane Burden, 35, of Oxford, was sentenced in court on June 10 to a suspended sentence following 18-months probation, including 15-months community service to be completed in the first 15 months, after pleading guilty to two counts of failing without lawful excuse to attend court.
The incidents occurred April 30 and July 23, 2018, in Amherst.
Knockwood sentenced for failing to attend court
William Stephen Clarence Knockwood, 21. of Indian Brook, was sentenced in court on June 10 to one-day custody, deemed served by his court appearance, after pleading guilty to two counts of failing without lawful excuse to attend court.
The incidents occurred April 24 and Nov. 27, 2017, in Amherst.
Maddison sentence for breach of probation
Allan Daniel Maddison, 39, of Oxford, was sentenced in court on June 10 to 90 days custody, to be served intermittently from Friday at 6 p.m. to Monday at 6 a.m., after pleading guilty to failing without reasonable excuse to comply with an order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The incident occurred Feb. 16, 2018, in Oxford.
He was also sentenced to 90-days custody, concurrent to other sentences, for failing without lawful excuse to comply with an order to abstain from any communication whatsoever with an individual he was ordered to not be in contact with.

Maddison was also sentenced to 90 days custody, concurrent, for failing without lawful excuse to comply with an order to report to probation services.
He was also sentenced to 90-days custody for failing without lawful excuse to comply with an order to perform 50 hours of community service under the direction and supervision of his probation officer.
The incidents occurred between Nov. 2, 2017, and July 16, 2018, in Amherst.

Naugler sentenced for using a stolen credit card
Bailey Mickale James Naugler, 22, of Duke Street, Amherst, was sentenced in court on June 10 to a conditional discharge, following 12-months probation, after pleading guilty to having in his possession property, credit cards, of a value not exceeding $5,000 and knowing the property was stolen, and for using a credit card knowing it was stolen.
The incidents occurred June 29, 2018, in Amherst.
Naugler was also found guilty of failing without lawful excuse to comply with a curfew to be at his residence between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. daily.
