Shelter Tales with Barnaby

Hey y'all this is Barnaby here with all the news from the Lillian Allbon Cumberland County Animal Shelter on Smith Road. We want to say thank you to Westmorland Alarm Inc. for donating their product and services to us. Thanks to them and especially Jeff White, we have been updated with a new security system. Our shelter is under 24 hour surveillence and monitoring now. We are beyond thankful!

The Career Exploration Program at Amherst Regional High School is selling cupcakes for the shelter on Valentine's Day at the school. Cupcakes for Critters will feature red velvet or chocolate cupcakes, two for $3. They will be sold in the atrium between 11:25 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 14. All proceeds will go the shelter.

To order cupcakes for pick up, email and you can pick up your cupcakes in the office that day. They accept cash or debit!

Congratulations to cat Seraphina as she went off to her forever home!

Pets of the Week are cats Iffie and Turbo. Iffie is a one and a half year old neutered male and Turbo is a nine year old spayed female. This power couple doesn't have to be adopted together but it would be great if they were.

In celebration of Amherst Winter Carnival the shelter will join Dogs to Divas at the Off-leash Dog Park at the Robb Complex Sunday, Feb. 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be complimentary chili and hot chocolate. Dog owners are responsible for their own pets. Dog friendly dogs only.

The shelter has room for a few more cats or kittens. Please call our manager Tara at 902-661-PAWS for more information.

That's all for now. Until next time keep your tail in the air and your heart open wide and don't forget us here at the LA Animal Shelter. We are the little shelter with the big heart.

Shelter Tales appears bi-weekly in the Amherst News.
