YARMOUTH, N.S. – The 2018 Yarmouth Pride Parade was held in Yarmouth on Saturday, Sept. 15.

This was the second year a Pride Parade was held. A parade was introduced in Yarmouth last year.

The intention of the parade is to promote acceptance and awareness for the LGBTQ+ community, and to create a safe environment for everyone.

Various groups, business, unions, schools, churches and individuals participated in the parade.

Along with the Pride colours and smiles along the parade route, here are a few of the messages that were shared in the parade on signs and t-shirts:

• Closets are 4 clothes

• YCMHS Pride

• Scouts is for everyone

• There's nothing wrong with us, there's a lot wrong with the world we live in

• From DHCS: Students from schools with GSAs (Gay Straight Alliances) are much more likely to agree that their school is supportive of LGBTQ. GSAs make schools safer for all students.

• Mental Health & Addictions: Proud to be an ally.

• Proud mom.

• Happy Pride Yarmouth

• Celebrate Your True Colours

• Nova Scotia Teachers Union: We're proud to represent diversity.

• Being gay is like glitter, it never goes away.

• Love is Love

• You are safe here.
