Howdy y'all it's your old pal Barnaby reporting from the Lillian Allbon Cumberland County Animal Shelter on Smith Road.
The shelter has had a busy couple of weeks. We took part in the Second Annual Amherst Pride Parade and attended the Town of Amherst Doggie Social at Dickey Park. Both events were a great success!
The L.A. Animal Shelter will hold its own event a yard sale and open house on Saturday, July 7. The yard sale is from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. A balloon artist will also be on site at 9 until 11 a.m. making crazy creations for the kids.
Then at 11 a.m. our doors open for those wishing to tour our shelter building and see the animals. The Community Credit Union will also host a free barbecue during the event! The wieners will be sizzling from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Last year's yard sale and open house was well attended and we hope everyone will come out this year to support the animals once again!
Our Pet of The Week is Miss Priss. Miss Priss is a three-year-old spayed female cat that can be quite the diva. She is beautiful and she knows it! Miss Priss can be a tad temperamental and she would truly enjoy a home where she could be the only animal to reap all the attention and love. Miss Priss does not enjoy shelter life and it's making her very cranky. She was previously fostered and was wonderful in the home. We believe her "catitude" to be shelter induced. Please come see her and give her a chance!
Congratulations to cat Peps as he went off with his new mom. And happy tails to dog Karma as she went off with her new family.
Remember we have lots of adorable kittens at the shelter. Many of which have just come in and are not even posted to our Facebook yet! And of course, we still have Oreo our three-year-old male Am Staff mix.
Oreo is still patiently waiting for a home.
To see our animals we are open daily from 1 until 4 p.m, or you can go on our website http://laanimalshelter.ca or Facebook page.
Our number is 902-661-PAWS.
That's all for now. Until next time keep your tail in the air and your heart open wide and don't forget us here at the LA Animal Shelter. We are the little shelter with the big heart.
