Hello from beautiful downtown New Salem.
I hope you all had a wonderful New Year. Now we can notice the days getting a little longer which means spring is on the way. I can’t wait!
On Saturday, Jan. 26, a fundraiser for Rob, Susie and Molly Connell will be held at Open Mic at the Advocate Fire Hall at 7 p.m.
Rob has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer.
There will be a canteen, 50/50 draw, live and silent auctions, baked goods and so on.
On Thursday, Jan. 31 we’ll be doing New Year’s Crafts at the Advocate Harbour Library from 3 to 4 p.m.
Spencer’s Island Bingo will be held on Friday, Feb. 1 at the Advocate Fire Hall at 7 p.m. Come on out for an evening of fun!

Tai Chi is being held at Chignecto Manor on Thursday evenings at 7.
The Meals on Wheels program that operates from the Bayview Health Centre is seeing an increase in customers and they now need more volunteers to deliver meals on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
If you can help with deliveries or would like to receive this service yourself, please call the Health Centre at 902-392-5400: the kitchen at extension 6035 or the office extension 5402.
The Advocate United Church Service will be held at the Advocate Manor at 8:30 for the winter.
Sunday School will be held at Chignecto Manor at 10 a.m. on Sundays.
