Amherst Lioness wrap up another busy year with series of events

Amherst Lioness Club report

During the past three months the Amherst Lioness were involved in a number of activities.

In April a successful fashion show was held at the Lions Community Centre with fashions presented by four Amherst stores.

The Lioness celebrated their charter night in April with the members enjoying a pot luck meal followed by each Lioness painting and designing a “Welcome” sign.

In May the Lioness held their used book booth to support the Highland Fling activities. We also provided snacks for the workers at the various booths during Police Day at the mall.

Donations were presented to the following organizations: Autumn House, Camp Pagweak, ARHS Scholastic Prize Fund, Sexual Health Centre – “Girls’ World”, Amherst Food Bank Network and Phoenix Cheer and Tumbling Club.

Many of our Lioness attended the Lions Charter Night in June and presented cheques to the Kidney Foundation to support transplant awareness and also to the Amherst Little League Baseball.

We also held our closing meeting in June. After enjoying a meal at a local restaurant, we held a meeting. It was moved and seconded that we would sell strawberry shortcake during the activities on July 1.

Queen Lioness Dianne Chitty presented service awards to: Louise Small – 55 years, Linda Johnson – five years, Nikita Black – two years, and Carol Bureaux – one year.

QL Dianne conducted an induction ceremony to welcome Sheryl Siddall as a new member.

Lioness Gwen Briand installed the new executive for the coming Lioness year. Incoming Queen Lioness Mary Black received the gavel from Lioness Dianne Chitty. QL Mary wished all a happy and enjoyable summer. Motion to adjourn the meeting was passed.

Thanks to Lioness who chaired many successful committees during the year and to other members for their support. Best wishes to the new executive and all the members for another successful and enjoyable Lioness year.
