AMHERST – Amherst-based Archway Insurance, one of Atlantic Canada’s largest and fastest growing insurance brokerages, has purchased J.H. Deveau Insurance of Meteghan.

“This acquisition builds on Archway’s already very solid client base in Southern Nova Scotia,” Archway Insurance CEO Michael Stack said in a news release.

Archway opened its first location in 1985 in Yarmouth.

“It’s a natural fit as Archway and J.H. Deveau have had a long time partnership through IIBI, and both are community focused family businesses.”

The deal increases J.H. Deveau’s commercial capabilities, along with adding life, travel, and employee benefits products to its client offerings. Access to all of Archway’s insurance companies also provides more options for personal insurance clients.

From a day-to-day perspective, Archway and J.H. Deveau are committed to business as usual. Jean Guy Comeau will continue to manage the operation with high quality client first service remaining the focus.

“Our employees are excited about the added benefits of joining Archway, and pleased to remain in our Meteghan office to continue providing local service and expert insurance advice to our clients,” said Jean Guy Comeau, President of J.H. Deveau.

The latest acquisition brings the number of Archway locations to 24 with approximately 50,000 clients and $110 Million in premium volume.
