Vikings go unbeaten to claim Harrison Trimble tournament

MONCTON – The ARHS Vikings won four games in one day to claim the championship at the Harrison Trimble high school basketball tournament on Nov. 25.

In the final, a rematch with Fundy High, the Vikings were share from the start in a 67-48 win with Nabil Mohamad winning player of the game honours with 18 points – including six three-pointers.

Sam LeBlanc was tournament MVP averaging 21 points per game.

Coach Thomas Skabar was pleased with the clubs play and with the bench that provided a lot of energy and solid defence. He said Justin Milner and Caleb van Vulpen had their best offensive showings of the young season.

In the semifinal, the Vikings rode a strong second half to a 68-45 win over the host Harrison Trimble Trojans.

Caleb van Vulpen was player of the game with 12 points and five steals.

Amherst opened with an 80-53 win over Ecole St. Anne with Sam LeBlanc earning player of the game honours.

In the second game, Justin Milner was player of the game with nine point, 13 rebounds and a pair of blocks as the Vikings defeated Fundy High 63-52.
