Springhill wins junior girls tournament at Hernewood

The Springhill High Junior Eagles won the championship at the Hernewood Invitational Junior Girls Basketball Tournament in O’Leary, P.E.I. recently. Eagles defeat Grace Christian to take title

SPRINGHILL – Lucy Scott scored 13 points and Zoe Smith added 10 as the Springhill High Junior Eagles defeated Grace Christian from Charlottetown 53-16 to win the championship at the Hernewood Invitational Junior Girls Basketball Tournament in O’Leary, P.E.I. on Jan. 13.

Brooke Gallagher and Alaina Porter each added six points for Springhill while Selenia Aubichon and Erica MacAleese each had four.

Kendra Sears with three, Avery Smith, Kate MacDonald and Brooklyn McBurnie with two each and Abbie McFadden with one also scored.

In their first game, the Eagles defeated M.E. Callaghan Junior High 43-30 with Lucy Scott scoring 15 points and Brooke Gallagher adding 10.

Avery Smith added five points with Nevaeh Aubicon, Zoe Smith, Selenia Aubichon and Alaina Porter each adding two. Kendra Sears had one point.

Abbie McFadden had 15 points and Erica MacAleese 14 as Springhill defeated South Colchester from Brookfield 48-40.

Lucy Scott chipped in with 13 points and Zoe Smith, Brooke Gallagher and Alaina Porter each had two.
