Springhill captures district title in close battle with Oxford

The SHS Eagles junior boys basketball team won the district championships Tuesday night at SHS, and will host the Northumberland Regionals this coming Tuesday. SPRINGHILL – It was a thriller, and in the end it was the Springhill Eagles junior boys edging the Oxford Golden Bears junior boys 50-49 in the district championship game Tuesday night at Springhill High School.

The main scorers for Springhill was Noah Harrison, Chase Clayton, Isaac Rushton, Tyerel Porter, and Michael Varner.

The Eagles made it to the championship game with a 71-38 win over the River Hebert High School junior boys Raiders Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles finished first in their division for the season, and will host the Northumberland Regional Championships at Springhill High School beginning Tuesday at 11 a.m.

The four-team tournament features Springhill, a team from the New Glasgow area, a team from the Truro area, and a team from the Antigonish area.
