Ramblers lose back-to-back games to Mariners, Bearcats

AMHERST – Jordan King scored the lone goal for the CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers in their 2-1 overtime loss to the Truro Bearcats Saturday night at Amherst Stadium.

King nearly scored his second goal of the night early in the overtime frame, but the Bearcats Riley Braggs sunk the puck in the Ramblers net with 20 seconds left in overtime.

All regulation time goals were scored in the second period.

Truro went up 1-0 at 6:33 into the second period off a Braggs power play goal, and King scored with 32 seconds left in the frame off passes from Will Lafford and Liam Conrad.

Julian Galloway stopped 18 of the 20 shots he faced, and Kevin Resop stopped 37 of 38 shots in goal for the Bearcats.

Ramblers vs. Mariners

The Ramblers lost 4-3 to the Mariners Friday in Yarmouth.

The Ramblers took a 2-0 lead into the third period but Yarmouth scored three consecutive goals in the third to take a 3-2 lead before the Ramblers tied the game 3-3 with 12 seconds left in the game, forcing overtime.

Dawson Grenier scored at 5:17 into the first period off passes from Brady Griffin-Hefford and King, and then Caleb Rich put the Ramblers up 2-0 in the second period off feeds from Tayden Woods and Cole Waugh.

Jordan King scored with 12 seconds let in the game off a pass from Conrad.

Shots on goal was 34-30 for Yarmouth.

Game attendance was 1,221.

Standings

The South Shore Lumberjacks lead the Eastlink South Division with 20 points, 10-3, the Mariners are second with 20 points, 10-2, the Ramblers are third with 16 points, 6-2-2-2 (win-loss-otl-sol), and the Bearcats have 14 points, 7-7.

Point Leaders

Jordan King is fourth on the Maritime Hockey League point-board with 18 points, 6 goals and 12 assists.

Liam Conrad is sixth with 16 points, six goals and 10 assists.

Brady Griffin-Hefford has the most Ramblers goals with seven, placing him in seventh place on the goals list.

Upcoming Games

The Ramblers play a home-and-home stand against the South Shore Lumberjacks next weekend.

On Friday they’re at the Lunenburg County Life Style Centre, and then on Saturday they return home at 7 p.m.
