Oxford wins second straight NSSAF soccer championship

Capping off perfect 17-0 season

The Oxford Regional Education Centre Golden Bears won the NSSAF Division 3 Girls Soccer Championship in Lockeport over the weekend. LOCKEPORT – The Oxford Regional Education Centre Golden Bears are the Nova Scotia Schools Athletic Federation Division 3 girls soccer champions for a second consecutive year.

The Golden Bears capped up a 17-0 season by winning two games over the weekend to claim their second provincial banner.

Oxford defeated host Lockeport 13-0 on Friday in one of two provincial semifinals.

Brianna Warwick scored six goals in the win while Bethany Warwick scored three and Taylor Mattinson, Courtney Patriquin, Lydia Wood and Railyn Cann each had one.

In the final, Oxford defeated East Antigonish 4-1 to capture the championship with Lydia Wood, Taylor Mattinson, Brianna Warwick and Railyn Cann each scoring once.
