AMHERST – Jackson Comeau hit a pair of singles and Cal Hoeg doubled as the Amherst Athletics defeated Pictou County 9-3 in Bluenose Midget AA Baseball League action.

Graden Chitty earned the pitching win with Brandon Hicks also pitching. They gave up three walks and seven hits and struck out six.

Mike Farrell doubled and Brady Crowe and Isaac VanSnick each singled.

In the early game, Cole Stevens singled twice and doubled and Riley Girouard and Brady Crowe each singled in an 8-5 win for the Athletics.

Cole Stevens and Cal Hoeg shared the pitching, striking out 11, walking nine and giving up seven hits.

The Midget Athletics host the Kentville Wildcats on Sunday at the Robb Complex at 11 a.m.

In bantam action, the Hants North Blue Jays swept the Amherst Athletics at the Robb Complex winning 6-5 and 13-8.

The Bantam Athletics are home to the Nova Scotia Under-16 Girls on Saturday with the first game at 11 a.m.
