J&K, Maltby win Game 1 in AAHL playoffs

AMHERST – Amherst Adult Hockey League playoff action began Monday night with two games.

The best-of-three semi-final series started with the No. 1 seed J&K Electric beating No. 4 Colson Overhead Doors by a score of 7-2, and then the No. 2 seed Maltby Sports beating No. 3 seed Bluewave Energy 6-3.

J&K vs. Colson

Chuck Chandler led J&K with three goals and one assist, Ryan Smith scored two goals and two assists, Kurtis Langille had one goal and two assists, and Jordan Bennett scored one goal and one assist.

Marc Bennett and Greg Brennan added two assists each, and Dave Atkinson had one assist.

Brad Linkletter and Phil Farrow scored one goal each for Colson and Geoff Ryan added an assist.

J&K outshot Colson 24-23. Remi Thomas got the win in goal and Kristy Brown the loss.

Maltby vs. Bluewave

Jordie Shaw led Maltby Sports in the 6-3 win over Bluewave with two goals. Jon Tattrie added one goal and two assists, and Chris Sproul, Dan Anger and Chris Maltby scored one goal each. Bill Davison added two assists, and Mitchell Roy, Cory Robichaud and Aaron Dobson had one helper each.

Marshall MacDonald, Brian Meyers and Tim Burke scored for Bluewave. Ray Hickey added two assists, and Lucas Hurley, Tom Burge, Kyle Harvey and Luke Crocker added one assist each.

Jarret Munn got the win in goal, Justin Brown the loss.

Regular Season Point Leaders

The regular season ended with former Cumberland County Blues player Ryan Smith atop the AAHL standings with 106 points, 61 goals and 45 assists in 30 games.

Jon Tattrie, also a former Blues player, finished second with 86 points, 42 goals and 44 assists in 30 games.

Jordie Shaw, a former Blues captain, finished third with 82 points, 52 goals and 30 assists in 30 games.

Marshall MacDonald finished fourth with 80 points, 57 goals and 23 assists in 28 games.

Chris Sproul finished fifth with 59 points, 33 goals and 26 assists in 30 games.

Matt Colson finished sixth with 51 points, 32 goals and 19 assists in 26 games.

Joel Stone finished seventh with 49 points, 12 goals and 37 assists in 28 games.

Danny Small finished eighth with 48 points, 14 goals and 34 assists in 30 games.

Phil Farrow finished ninth with 47 points, 27 goals and 20 assists in 24 games.

Kurtis Langille, a current Blues player, finished tenth with 45 points, 19 goals and 26 assists in 29 games.

Game 2 is Tuesday night.

Maltby plays Bluewave at 7:45 p.m. at Amherst Stadium.

J&K plays Colson at 9:15 p.m. at Amherst Stadium.
