AMHERST Former Amherst Rambler and OHL great Jamie Matthews has taken over the reigns of the Fundy Hockey School.
Matthews, who played with the Ramblers and the Sudbury Wolves and was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks, assumes the directorship from David Crocker, who had run the hockey school for several years.
Returning to the hockey school this season will be Darren Nixon while other instructors include Tony Robichaud, Mike MacKenzie, Robin Black, Tim Ackles and Darrell Cole.
This years school, the 24th annual, begins September 15 and runs through Oct. 2 at the Amherst Stadium.
Therell be instruction in four groups including Group A (ages seven and eight), Group B (ages nine and 10), Group C (ages 11 to 13) and Group D (ages 14 to 16).
Each player will have 12 on-ice sessions including final games on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2.
The cost of this years school is $150.
