Blues lose two at home over weekend

SPRINGHILL – The Cumberland County Blues lost both their home games over the weekend.

On Friday they lost 6-2 to the Cole Harbour Colts, and on Sunday they lost 8-4 to the Antigonish Bulldogs.

Blues vs. Bulldogs

On Sunday, after two periods, the Blues and Bulldogs were tied 4-4, but the third period was all Bulldogs as they went on to win the game 8-4.

First Period

The Blues took a 3-1 lead in the first period. Alex Griffiths scored the first goal seven minutes into the game off a pass from Landen Clarke.

The Bulldogs tied the game 1-1 two minutes later, and then Chad Miller and Brody Deegan scored to give the Blues the 3-1 lead. Griffiths and Clarke assisted on the Miller goal, and Maddison Colford and Kansas Hart assisted on the Deegan goal.

Second Period

The second period was the opposite of the first, with the Blues being outscored 3-1. Keegan Marcott scored for the Blues off passes from Taylor Smith and Alexander Clark.

Third Period

Antigonish scored four goals.

Goaltending

Trent Wilkie played in net for the Blues stopping 58 of the 66 shots he faced. His teammates had 16 shots on the Bulldogs net.

Blues vs. Colts

On Friday the Blues lost 6-2 to the Cole Harbour Colts.

The score was 1-1 after the first period with Clarke scoring for the Blues off passes from Alex Campbell and Clark.

The Colts scored four goals in the second period, taking a 5-1 lead, and scored midway through the third to take a 5-1 lea before Marcott scored with 3:12 left in the game.

Wilkie stopped 40 of the 46 shots he faced, and his teammates had 47 shots on the Colts net.
