Blues lose Friday, Sunday to Elks, Leafs

SPRINGHILL – The Cumberland County Blues lost 9-6 to the Valley Maple Leafs Sunday night at the Hants County Arena.

Goals

Chad Miller and Alex Campbell scored two goals and one assist each for the Blues.

Keegan Marcott scored one goal and two assists, and Brody Deegan scored one goal.

Assists

Madison Colford, Alex Griffiths, Cole Jacquard, Greg Ripley and Rueben MacKenzie scored had one assist each for the Blues.

Shots on goal was 46-37 for the Leafs.

Greg Ripley played in net for one period for the Blues, stopping four of eight shots, and Pierrick Heudes played two periods in net, stopping 29 of 34 shots.

Blues vs. Elks

Mats Stone was the only Blues player to score in their 2-1 loss to the Brookfield Elks Friday in Springhill.

All scoring was in the second period, with Brookfield scoring first, Stone tying the game 1-1, and then the Elks scoring their second goal with 5:18 left in the period.

Shots on goal was 41-40 for Brookfield. Heudes played in goal.

Standings

The Blues sit at the bottom of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League standings with two points, 1-8.

Their division rivals, the Junior Miners, are atop the Sid Rowe Division with 15 points.

Point Leaders

Chad Miller leads the Blues with 10 points, five goals and five assists, and Alex Griffiths is second with five goals and one assist.

Upcoming Games

The Blues are on the road next weekend where they play two games, Saturday and Sunday, against the Junior Miners at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.
