Ramblers beat Western Capitals in Summerside

The Ramblers are back home to host the Western Capitals Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.

AMHERST – The Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers are 3-0 in their first three games of their exhibition season.

Their latest win was a 2-1 win over the Summerside Western Capitals Tuesday night in Summerside.

First period

No scoring

Second Period

The Ramblers took a 2-0 lead in the second off goals from Jordan King and Brock McEwen.

Cole Waugh and Matt Sartoris assisted on the King goal at 4:15 into the second period, and Tayden Woods and Will Lafford scored at 9:46 into the second period.

Third Period

Summerside’s Kallum Muirhead scored on the power play at 14:44 into the third period, making it a 2-1 game.

Goaltending Allen Kirklin and Joel Goguen played in goal for the Ramblers.

Kirklin stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced, and Goguen stopped all 18 shots thrown his way.

Summerside goaltender Cody Smithy stopped 29 of the 31 Ramblers shots he faced

Upcoming Games

The Ramblers exhibition season continues Saturday night when they host the Capitals at 7:30 p.m. at Amherst Stadium.

The regular season starts Sept. 16 at home when the Ramblers host the Pictou County Weeks Crushers at 7 p.m.
