Mixers force deciding game against Cubs

AMHERST – The Lions have advanced to the Amherst Little League championship series after a 2-1 win over the Y’s Guys on Monday.

Nolan McNally and Reece MacDonald shared the pitching win for the Lions giving up three hits, 12 walks and striking out 15. Ashton VanSnick and Brayden Stevens pitched for the Y’s Guys. They gave up six hits, walked five and struck out seven.
Reece MacDonald singled and tripled for the Lions with Nolan McNally, Ben MacDonald, Nate Campbell and Brady Gill each hitting singles.
Brayden Stevens homered and singled for the Y’s Guys with Ryder Codling adding a single.
In the other game, the Mixers forced a third and deciding game in their best-of-three seris with a 13-5 win over the Carter’s Cresting Cubs.
Burke Beed pitched the Mixers to the win giving up seven hits, walking five and striking out 12. Kieran Sears, Phoenix Remington and Thane McAloney all pitched for the Cubs. They gave up nine hits, walked nine and struck out nine.
Mandel Nickerson hit two doubles and singled for the Mixers while Turkey Porter doubled. Hayden Crocket and Nate Arseneau singled twice each while Jesse Stevens singled once.
Thane McAloney hit three singles for the Cubs with Phoenix Remington hitting a single and a double. Sawyer Harvey hit a single as did Kolby Mills.
The third game in the Cubs-Mixers series is set for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
