Mixers advance to championship series

AMHERST – The Casey Concrete Mixers advanced to the Amherst Little League championship series Wednesday night with a 4-2 win over the Carter’s Cresting Cubs.

Mandel Nickerson pitched the win for the Mixers with 18 strikeouts, while giving up six hits and three walks.

Nickerson hit one double and two singles for the Mixers, and Hayden Crocket and Turkey Porter hit one single each.

Phoenix Remington pitched four innings for the Cubs, and Thane McAloney pitched the final two.

They combined to strike out 11 batters, while giving up five hits and five walks.

Remington hit a triple and a single for the Cubs, Ethan Rose hit two singles, and McAloney hit a single.

The best-of-five championship series starts Monday night on the Ernie Landry little league field, and the best-of-five consolation series starts Monday night on the Sonny Foster field.

Phoenix Remington pitched for the Cubs, along with Thane McAloney.
