Lions beat Cubs, Mixers tie Y’s Guys

AMHERST, N.S. – Week three of Amherst Little League ended Wednesday night with a tie between the Casey Concrete Mixers and the Y’s Guys, and with the Lions beating the Carter’s Cresting Cubs 11-6.

The Lions went into the top of the sixth inning down 6-5 to the Cubs but were able to score six runs, winning 11-6. The Cubs were unable to rally in the bottom of the sixth.

Reece MacDonald pitched four innings for the Lions, striking out seven batters, and allowing two hits and four walks.

Nate Campbell pitched two innings, striking out three batters and allowing two walks.

Evan Legere hit a double and two singles for the Lions, Brady Gill hit one double and one single, Nolan McNally hit one double and Kyler Edwards hit one single. Legere, Gill and Edwards had two RBI’s each, and McNally had one.

Kieran Sears pitched four-plus innings for the Cubs, striking out nine batters, and allowing three hits and four walks.

Phoenix Remington pitched one-plus innings for the Cubs, allowing four hits and five walks.

Remington, Sears and Ethan Rose hit one single each for the Cubs.

Mixers vs. Y’s Guys

The Mixers and Y’s Guys had their game wrapped up at the end of the sixth inning with the scored knotted at 10-10.

The Mixers sent three pitchers out to the mound, Mandel Nickerson, Hayden Crocket and Burke Beed. They combined to strike out 10 batters, while giving up seven hits and six walks.

Riley MacDonald hit a double for the Mixers, Nickerson hit three singles, Nate Arsenault hit two singles, and Turkey Porter, Ethan Sheriff and Jackson Reed hit one single each.

Cody Hill pitched two innings for the Y’s Guys and Brayden Stevens pitched four innings.

They combined to strike out 11 batters, while giving up 10 hits and three walks.

Brayden Stevens hit a triple and a single for the Y’s Guys, Ryder Codling hit one double and one single, and Bella Sharpe, Ashton Wilcox and Cody Hill hit one single each.

Week four of Amherst Little League starts Monday night at 6:30 p.m.
