Lions edge Mixers, Cubs beat Y’s Guys

AMHERST – The Casey Concrete Mixers sixth inning push came up a little short and they lost 10-9 to the Lions during Amherst Little League action Wednesday night.

The Mixers were down 10-3 heading into the sixth but scored six runs to make it a close game.

Evan Legere pitched four innings for the Lions, giving up five hits and five walks and striking out four batters.

Kyler Edwards pitched half an inning, giving up three hits, and Declan LeBlanc pitched one and a half innings, giving up two hits, three walks and striking out two batters.

Leading the Lions in hits was Gregor Millard with one double, two singles and two RBI’s.

Also hitting for the Lions was LeBlanc and Edwards with one single and one double each, Brady Gill with a one double, and Ben MacDonald and Legere with one single each. Legere scored two RBI’s and LeBlanc one RBI.

Mandel Nickerson pitched three innings for the Casey Concrete Mixers. He gave up four hits, three walks, and struck out eight batters.

Ethan Sheriff pitched one inning for the Mixers before Burke Beed came in for the last two innings.

Beed gave up one hit, two walks and struck out four batters.

Beed hit a triple for the Mixers, Sheriff and Nate Arseneault hit two singles each, and Nickerson, Riley MacDonald, Hayden Crocket, Jackson Reed and Kolbi Purnell hit one single each.

Y’s Guy’s vs. Cubs

The Carter’s Cresting Cubs beat the Y’s Guy’s 11-3 Wednesday night.

Kieran Sears and Phoenix Remington pitched three innings each for the Cubs.

They combined to strike out 14 batters, while giving up five hits and three walks.

Remington hit one triple and two singles for the Cubs, Thank McAloney hit one single and one double, Jaxon Reynolds hit three singles, and John Adams hit two singles.

Sears, Kolby Mills, Will Allen and Ethan Rose hit one single each.

Brayden Stevens and Annabella Sharpe pitched three innings each for the Y’s Guys.

They combined to striking out eight batters, while giving up 14 hits and four walks.

Ryder Codling hit one triple, Stevens hit one double, and Jesse Goodwin, Zach Trenholm and Ashton Wilcox hit one single each. Trenholm scored two RBI’s and Codling one RBI.

Lions, Cubs open season with wins

Reece MacDonald and Declan LeBlanc combined on a no-hitter as the Lions defeated the Y’s Guys 13-0 to open the Amherst Little League A system season.

Nolan McNally singled, doubled and tripled for the Lions while Declan LeBlanc doubled and tripled in the win.

Kyler Edwards singled and doubled and Evan Legere and Reece MacDonald each singled twice. Brady Gill singled.

Brayden Stevens took the loss for the Y’s Guys.

In the other game, Phoenix Remington hit a triple in the bottom of the sixth to lead the Carter’s Cresting Cubs to a 3-2 win over the Mixers.

John Adams also tripled with Jaxon Reynolds and Kieran Sears each hitting singles.

Hayden Crocket, Burke Beed and Jackson Reid each singled once for the Mixers.

Kieran Sears and Phoenix Remington each pitched for the Cubs, giving up seven walks and striking out 10 while Burke Beed and Mandel Nickerson pitched for the Mixers. They gave up three walks and struck out 10.

The second week of Amherst Little League action starts Monday night.
