AMHERST – Kids will fill the parking lot at the YMCA next Friday to take part in the Strong Kids Ball Hockey tournament.

There are five to seven kids per team and last year we had 14 teams,” said Jeff MacNeil, manager of development at the YMCA of Cumberland in Amherst.

It is open to kids age 7 to 14, with two categories of teams; 7 to 10-year-olds, and 11 to 14-year-olds.

The tournament begins at 10 a.m. and the championship game starts close to 2 p.m.

It is open to kids age 7 to 14, with two categories of teams; 7 to 10-year-olds, and 11 to 14-year-olds.

The number of teams is capped at 16, and MacNeil says there is still room for registration.

“Registration forms are available at the front desk at the YMCA,” said MacNeil. “It is $35 per team, and $7 for individuals.”

The Canadian Tire Jump Start program matches money raised.

“In the summer we have the Jump Start Swim and it helps offset the funds for that,’ said MacNeil.
