Local women win silver in Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN – The Captain’s Finest women’s hockey team, many from Cumberland County, won silver in Nashville, Tennessee last weekend.

“We had a great time,” said Captain’s player Susan Smith.

Captain’s lost 5-2 to Team Ontario in the gold medal game.

Alysha Manderson scored both goals for Captain’s Finest in the final.

Games were played at the Centennial Sportsplex, the Nashville Predators practice facility. 

Captains Finest made it to the final by winning the following games:

Game 1 – 1-0 win over Yukon. Goal by Dana Carr on an assist from Carole Gautreau

Game 2 – 3-2 win over Quebec. Nicole Hurley scored the game winner, and Carr and Manderson scored the two other goals. Assists came from Gautreau and Crystal Goodwin. Captain’s lost to Quebec in the gold medal game at last year’s tournament in Montreal.

Game 3 ­­– 1-1 tie against Ontario. Goodwin scored off a pass from Manderson.
